Venice

Keeping the travel theme of my poetry collection alive.

Venice

The vaporetto chugs across the lagoon
Belching diesel fumes as it passes bricole and statues,
Palazzos are left behind to the tourists
Who now, in the distance are swarming like ants before rain;

A launch speeds past, its young passengers smile and wave,
In its sparkling wake the vaporetto chugs on,
Towards distant islands
Of coloured glass and snowy lace.

Getting on in years now but still love exploring corners of the world that call to me. I still write about those places, sometimes it's a poem and sometimes it's prose, whichever decides to take over my pen. I still love sharing bits and pieces of my travel fun so anyone who happens to stumble across this site or my books can go exploring with me. Come along, join in the silliness of Golden Oldie Travel.
